In a brief video message, Netanyahu stated, "I greatly appreciate the warm attitude of the Saudi authorities to the Israeli passengers whose flight was in distress and was compelled to make an emergency landing in Jeddah." 128 Israelis were on board the Air Seychelles flight, according to Israeli media.

Even though Saudi Arabia wasn't one of the Gulf and Arab nations to normalize relations with Israel as part of the 2020 Abraham Accords, which were mediated by the US, rumors of a forthcoming agreement have emerged. According to those informed of the negotiations, Saudi prerequisites for progress on normalization have been discussed in talks between Riyadh and Washington. But after Israel announced a meeting between its foreign minister and his colleague from Libya in Rome, Israeli news analysts said that such attempts had been seriously undermined.

The decision provoked demonstrations in Libya, a country that does not recognize Israel, and it resulted in Najla al-Mangoush, the foreign minister, being fired. Without going into greater detail, Israel's foreign ministry on Monday denied being the source of the "leak" on the meeting between the two ministers.
