In a move that can be termed as revolutionary, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed into law a bill that removes the generation, distribution, and transmission of electricity from the exclusive legislative list to the concurrent list in a decision that completely decentralizes electricity supply in Nigeria.
The states now have the power to define their destiny when it comes to the generation of electricity, to which some states are already responding with a desire to chart a path on electricity supply in their states.
States like Lagos, Rivers, and Kaduna have indicated their readiness to embark on a wholesome distribution and supply of electricity.
