He became the youngest player to score in the competition history when he defeated Inter Milan goalkeeper Handanovic from a distance at the age of 17 years and 40 days.

When Peter Ofori-Quaye scored for Olympiacos at the age of 17 years and 195 days, he set the record for the youngest goal scorer in the Champions League. Ofori-Quaye was surpassed in second position by George Ilenikhena, who coincidentally scored for Antwerp against Barcelona at the age of 17 years, 119 days.
