Arsenal had to dig deep late on Sunday evening to earn all the points as Gunners quest to win the EPL was again slipping through their fingers when they conceded a goal against the run of play in the first half of their match at the Saint James's Park.

Again Woltesmade find himself freely  heading home a goal from a corner kick in the 34th minute after Arsenal had totally dominated proceedings and had left no one in doubts that they intended to make the most of EPL slips by league leaders and last year's champions Liverpool who slipped to defeat late at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Arsenal had not won any major trophy for up to five years and are desperate to prove their potential after they had brought in eight additional signings during the summer transfer window to bolster their ranks in their bid to win something and have suddenly found themselves slipping down to five points gap behind Liverpool.

They had been second for three consecutive years while Man City and Liverpool had been champions on the three occasions and are now under pressure to prove their champions credentials.

They began the match dictating proceedings and pressing the Toons high in their box and calling Pope to make saves time and time again and even had Leandro Trossard hitting the woodwork.

Until Woltesmode goal sent the Toons fan to a rancors jubilation and they held on to their lead until the 84th minute after Arsenal had made up to twenty attempts at goal.

Spainish midfielder finally equalized for the Gunners from a Rice assist and late in injury time Brazilian defender Gabriel headed home yet again from an Odegaard corner to hand all the points to the Gunners and brought them back to the second place two points behind league leaders Liverpool.
