Governor Aiyedatiwa of itOndo is expected to be declared as the winner of the 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo. In the ruling expected on Wednesday the tribunal' judgment is being expected.

Martin Amaewhuke led 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who have been ruled current members of the Peoples' Democratic Party by a Rivers State High Court. On Monday, the Court dismissed a lawsuit brought by Wosa Amadi and three other parties, who wanted the seats of the 27 MPs to be declared vacant due to their defection to the All Progressives Congress in December 2003. As to the ruling of Justice Okogbule Gbasam, the Presiding Judge, Martin Amaewhule and the other 26 MPs remain members of the PDP.

In addition, Justice Gbasam declared that the claimants had not demonstrated to the court that the 27 MPs had switched to the APC, emphasizing that there is no way to verify this allegation through newspaper articles, radio spots, or internet postings. The party membership record, a membership card, and the fulfillment of all membership requirements by the affected members are the only ways, the court ruled, that a defection may be proven.

CAF TO RESCHEDULED AFCON 2025

The AFCON 2025 organizers have revealed that the competition will take place six months later than planned due to conflict with the 32-team Club World Cup. Originally slated to take place in June, AFCON 2025 will now be held in Morocco. Meanwhile, the Club World Cup will be held in the United States from June 15 to July 13. The BBC was informed by Veron Mosengo-Omba, the general secretary of CAF, that the AFCON will now take place in early 2026, recognizing the urgent need to resolve schedule difficulties.

Mosengo-Omba raised worries about player welfare, raising doubts about the viability of players competing in the AFCON and the Club World Cup in quick succession. "For the men, it is imperative that we ensure the dates we select will benefit the players." To do this, we must weigh a variety of factors, consult with our partners, and then finalize [the dates]. Everyone finds scheduling to be a nightmare, according to Mosengo-Omba.

The Northern Parkway Road in Abuja has been dedicated in honor of the well-known Nigerian author Wole Soyinka by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This action is a part of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) commissioning of several projects to commemorate the president's first year in office. The renowned dramatist, novelist, poet, essayist, and sub-Saharan African Wole Soyinka created literary history in 1986 when he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. At the function, Tinubu complimented Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for his outstanding work and voiced his admiration for him.

"They said you wouldn't deliver, but you've shown them incorrect, Wike. You are the person I chose, and you haven't let me down," Tinubu declared. This news follows President Tinubu's praise of Wike last week when he officially renamed the Southern Parkway (S8/S9) Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way in Wike's honor. Wike was praised by the president as a team leader and "Mr. Project," recognizing his commitment to finishing legacy projects in the Federal Capital Territory.

After being embroiled in one of the most convoluted transfer stories in football history for several years, former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi declared that the great Sir Alex Ferguson had forgiven him.  Mikel was a highly sought-after young player at Lyn Oslo in Norway in 2005, and United was keeping an eye on him. The Nigerian sensation appeared to have been signed by the Devils from the Norwegian team after a contract was made public.

Mikel was even photographed sporting a United shirt, and they even held a news conference. However, the plan was drastically derailed when Chelsea intervened, and Mikel claimed he was under duress to make the change. Mikel stated to Sky Sports News in 2006, "I didn't sign a deal with Manchester United of my own free will.

I felt a lot of pressure to carry out that action. I didn't have much time to reflect when my agent and other trustworthy people rejected my counsel. I took action that I did not wish to take. It became too much because of pressure from Mr. Morgan (Andersen, Lyn's sporting director) and a United representative. "I was pushed and I had nobody on my side so I had to do it," Lyn said.  The pressure was too much because I was not given a week to consider it and get some unbiased opinions from others.

Ferguson was scheduled to travel to Norway for crisis talks, but he was forced to postpone the trip after learning that the Nigerian had vanished from his training session and was believed to be on his way to London for negotiations with Chelsea, according to multiple sources. He eventually joined the Blues and played for them for 11 trophy-filled years at Stamford Bridge.

Years later, Mikel disclosed on his podcast that he was terrified to see Ferguson on the touchline during Chelsea's match against Manchester United. And the retiring Scottish manager had a terrible expression on his face when they finally met. Nineteen years later, during the evening of Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley, the retired football player encountered Ferguson, and the two had a good time.

In the South African election, Jacob Zuma's new party comes out on top. After being barred from running for office, the former president made an astonishing comeback, seizing a portion of the vote from the once-untouchable ANC. The captivating Zuma is still well-liked despite scandals and accusations of corruption, especially among the more than 10 million other Zulus in the nation.

Remarkably, former South African president Jacob Zuma returned to politics as the head of a party that had only been around for a few months but already held the third-largest share in the country. Due to a contempt conviction, the 82-year-old Zuma was not allowed to participate in this week's general election. His previous administration is frequently linked to the seizure of the state by unscrupulous forces. He has, however, overthrown the formerly impregnable ANC majority and won control of his home province under the leadership of uMkhonto weSizwe (MK), a group that was only founded eight months ago.

With 60% of the votes counted as of Friday afternoon, Zuma's MK was leading the ANC by 43% to 18 in the politically significant province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

The center-right Democratic Alliance (DA) and the ANC, whose vote share dropped from nearly 57 percent in 2019 to 42 percent on Wednesday, were the only two candidates behind the newcomers with over 12 percent of the vote in the national contest. The ANC or the Zulu nationalist Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has historically dominated KZN, which is home to Durban, the nation's second-biggest metropolis and primary port.

"As anticipated, the MK has also decreased the votes of the ANC and the IFP," said Siphamandla Zondi, a politics lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. KwaZulu-Natal province has had horrendous power outages, issues with the water system, and inadequate municipal administration, much like the rest of the country. The provincial leadership of the ANC has also been plagued by factionalism and internal turmoil. Earlier this month, the ANC Veterans League warned that the party would lose support because of "weak" leadership in the province.

Because of the composition of the province and its people, "losing votes in KZN affected the ANC nationally significantly," said Sihawukele Ngubane, a professor of African languages at the University of Kwa Zulu-Natal (UKZN). However, political analyst and UKZN politics lecturer Lubna Nadvi said the ANC was not losing significant influence nationally just because of its upset in KZN. "Its poor performance in all of the various areas it has been governing is the reason it has dropped below 50%," the speaker stated.

Analysts claim that disenchanted KZN voters acted in droves because their main demand was a change in leadership.

"They are largely gravitating towards what they know, which is the personality and image of Jacob Zuma," Nadvi stated of KZN voters. After the former leader of the ANC declared in December that he would run for the MK, the ANC suspended him. The captivating Zuma is still well-liked despite scandals and accusations of corruption, especially among the more than 10 million Zulus in the nation.

"Do these voters not know that Zuma has been implicated in these things, or do they know but choose to ignore it and still vote for him?" is a question that is raised by this. stated Nadvi. The MK party was unknown, having entered the general elections for the first time. In the unlikely event that it gains control of KZN, no candidate for provincial premier or local leadership has been put out, and not much is known about the party's organizational structure.

When it comes to governance, MK is an unproven institution with no history, according to Nadvi.

FIRST LADY DENIES ATTACK ON MEGHAN

The First Lady of Nigeria has office stated that the focus of her speech was young women in Nigeria rather than "Meghan's dressing." The First Lady's office has called allegations that Meghan Markle's attire during her visit to Nigeria with Prince Harry was criticized as deceptive. Oluremi Tinubu's office informed AFP Fact Check that she had not criticized Meghan's attire during her speech at the "Celebrating the Woman" event. In honor of President Bola Tinubu's first year in office and to acknowledge the important contributions women have made to all areas of life.

Rather, the YouTube video emphasized the First Lady's advice to young girls who strive to imitate Hollywood movie stars by dressing indecently. Oluremi Tinubu addressed the assembly at the occasion and stated: "In our culture, it is not acceptable to be nude. That lacks beauty. It is by no means lovely. Beautiful girls exist, but they ought to be self-assured enough to realize who they are. They are imitating and attempting to resemble American movie stars."

The First Lady of Nigeria ultimately refrained from commenting specifically on Meghan's tour attire, but she did criticize the Met Gala, where stars frequently don skimpy attire, and brought up Meghan's visit to her own country. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the director of the World Trade Organization and a Nigerian by birth, was present at an event Meghan spoke at for women in leadership during the Duke and Duchess' three-day visit to the West African nation. The Duchess talked about her Nigerian roots, calling her native country "my country" and a "role model" for young girls.

"I never would have understood it as much as I understand it now," the woman remarked. "Oh, we are not so surprised when we found out you are Nigerian," is another sentiment that has been repeated a lot during the past day. They describe Nigerian women as tough, resilient, fearless, and gorgeous, thus it is a tribute to you."

For her three-day trip to Nigeria, Meghan Markle is thought to have spent almost £120,000 on new clothes and accessories. Her purchases included a strappy patterned dress by Johanna Ortiz and a peach-colored, backless dress by Heidi Merrick. Her decision to flaunt such an ostentatious wardrobe during the tour was questioned by royal analyst Jennie Bond, who pointed out that her wardrobe choices indicate she still feels the need to dress like a royal. According to Bond, "I have a bit of a problem with Meghan or anyone else, even members of the Royal Family, going somewhere like Nigeria and wearing such expensive clothes and jewels that are worth thousands and thousands of pounds."

"It seems a little out of place to me that you do that when other Nigerians are worrying about where they are going to get their next meal. However, the royal family as a whole does that as effectively as Meghan." Nigeria has the second-largest impoverished population in the world, after India, with an estimated 87 million people living below the poverty line as of 2023.

After Zhilei Zhang knocked out American boxer Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua responded with a vicious one-word exchange.

Joshua AJ
If Joshua had performed well in the Middle East's 5x5 competition, he was rumored to challenge Wilder. However, when asked if he thought the knockout was depressing, the British fighter said emphatically, "No."

There were rumors that the two were scheduled to fight each other repeatedly; however, Wilder's loss to Zhang might have derailed those plans, and Joshua might now face Daniel Dubois or Wilder's Chinese conqueror.
