
The Labour Party (LP) leadership allegedly knows that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate, lost the poll on February 25 but is still insisting on telling Nigerians "lies" that Obi won. This is according to Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka. This was expressed by Soyinka on September 13 as he was speaking at a gathering in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

"First of all, two things occurred during the most recent election. The labor movement, which is not my favorite movement, was taken over by one party, which later evolved into a regional party. However, it was an amazing penetration into the two entrenched factions. There, Peter Obi accomplished something noteworthy in that he shattered the mold. He fell short of winning the election, though. I can state unequivocally that Peter Obi's party finished third, not even second, and that the leadership was aware of this, but they still wanted to use what Yorubas referred to as "blue," which is the force of lying.
