AN AMERICAN, LYLES WINS OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL IN 100-METER FINAL

In the men's 100-meter final, Kishane Thompson's foot crossed the finish line first, but Noah Lyles was given the gold medal. This is the reason. The men's 100-meter final on Sunday at the Stade de France was an incredible spectacle that left Olympic watchers in awe. At the 2024 Olympics, American sprint star Lyles narrowly defeated Jamaican sprinter Thompson to win the gold medal in a picture finish.

 

That's even though Thompson dominated the majority of the race and had the first foot across the finish line. But Lyles made a stunning finish by leaning with his chest in the second half of the race, pulling it back. Not the first body part to cross the line, but the athlete's torso is when the clock stops. In the end, the difference was that Thompson slightly rounded his chest, whereas the 27-year-old leaned with his chest.

Following the race, Lyles believed his competitor had done enough to take home the gold.

 

The American, who plans to compete in the men's 200-meter swim for gold, stated: "This is an incredible moment.
