SUPPER EAGLES TO MISS TAIWO AWONIYI FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS

Taiwo Awoniyi, a forward for Nottingham Forest, had a mixed night after scoring a goal but being carried off in stoppage time during their thrilling FA Cup fourth-round match against Exeter City. The Premier League team eventually advanced to the next round through penalties, but Awoniyi's injury overshadowed the festivities on Tuesday night. The Nigerian international had given Forest the lead in the 37th minute of the first half after colliding with Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth in stoppage time after he contested a high ball.

Both teams' medics hurried onto the field and treated the stunned striker for ten minutes before being carried away to cheers from the St. James' Park audience. Nuno Espirito Santo, the forest manager, later acknowledged that Awoniyi was in excellent spirits despite having probably fractured his nose. He grins while walking around, but I believe he cracked his nose. He did an amazing job, he did well today,” a post-match report on the club’s website noted.

Following a head contact with an Exeter goalie who was an onlooker, Taiwo Awoniyi received treatment for ten minutes. According to a comforting update from BBC Sport, Awoniyi was spotted returning to Forest's dressing room from the medical center on foot. Despite the injury setback, Forest prevailed in a close match against Exeter, a League One team that tested them to the limit.
