First-time mother of well-known artist Davido, Sophia Momodu, has admitted that she was hurt when their daughter, Imade Adeleke, adopted Davido's last name rather than her own.
In response to a post about children having their moms' names as middle names, Momodu shared this information on Tuesday via her Instagram Story.
Imade Adeleke was the name of Momodu and Davido's daughter, who was born in 2015. The 33-year-old entrepreneur claimed that she sobbed terribly since her daughter was unable to adopt her last name, "Momodu."
She continued, expressing how upset she was with the choice. "I recall my Mom and aunts laughing at me when I was crying because my daughter's last name wasn't going to be Momodu," wrote Momodu. I was really in a bad way. I even argued with them about why they only included the full names of her father and omitted all of mine.
"I played the feminist card. That year sha, I was in pain. She went on to say that her mother had explained to her that Imade should take her father's name for her to benefit from his ancestry and inheritance.
She stated in her letter, "It made me shut up real quick, but I lowkey had so many questions."
