After learning that five crew members of the Titan submarine perished in a "catastrophic implosion" on Friday, 23 June, from the Boston US Coast Guard Base.

Around an hour and forty-five minutes after plunging on Sunday, the Titan ship lost communication with its Polar Prince mothership.
After the debris was discovered, the US Coast Guard reported on Thursday that the submersible experienced a "catastrophic implosion".
Rear Admiral John Mauger remarked, "This is an incredibly harsh environment down there on the sea floor and the debris is consistent with a catastrophic implosion of the vessel."
