The Orange Health Insurance Scheme (ORANGHIS) was introduced by Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State, to offer complete healthcare coverage to the state's population who work in the informal sector, such as farmers, market vendors, craftspeople, private sector employees, and market women. Governor Aiyedatiwa underlined during the launch at the International Culture and Event Centre (Dome) in Akure that ORANGHIS will cover a variety of medical services, including surgeries like appendicitis, hernias, and fibroid operations, as well as treatment for malaria, respiratory tract infections, hypertension, and diabetes. Immunizations, neonatal care, and prenatal and postoperative services are also included in the program.
Declaring, "I am delighted that we have been able to create a sustainable source of funding that lowers the financial barriers to healthcare for our residents," he reaffirmed the administration's commitment to providing access to affordable healthcare. With the Orange Health Insurance Scheme, which is intended for people working in the unorganized sector, I can introduce new ideas into our healthcare delivery system based on this foundation. The Governor emphasized the value of teamwork in enhancing the affordability and accessibility of healthcare. "Health is an essential human right and a crucial measure of human progress," he continued.
